Cascine a Milano
The green of Milan often covers up some secrets. It covers ancient farmlands and settlements that only exist now as street names. In a game between the particular and the general, we rediscover the unity of an urban landscape.
"Over time, the city grows on itself: it becomes consciousness and a memory of itself. In its construction process, the city defines and modifies the motivations of its own development." A. Rossi
"Farmsteads in Milan" is a work that identifies as a system of farmlands, from a few viewpoints of the urban landscape and those transformations that have occurred.
Many of these places only exist as street names, others have modified their own purpose by changing function and others maintain their original role at the borders of the city. The green spaces accompany the story together with a contrast between the great and the small, between images in which we can partially read what is happening and images in which the presence of only the particular reminds us of anything that is a "landscape", something that all these pictures and many other possible ones, contribute to form.
