The preservation of artworks and craftworks in the stainless laboratory of the Frigoriferi Milanesi.

When you arrive in Via Piranesi you find yourself immersed in the enormous red stripe which wraps a building, part of the Frigoriferi Milanesi complex. As you step into this venue, the feeling is that of being in the disneyland of art: gorgeous works of art everywhere and huge spaces where all kind of activities are welcome. When it comes to restoration, we usually immagine a craftsman surrounded by a dusty pile of old art pieces. Yet, here the laboratories are spacious, white, clean, and tidy. A place where, once upon a time, goods were produced, exchanged and stored; has turned into a lieu where art is produced, exchanged and protected. In my work, I highlighted how the buildings have been rebuilt compared to the surrounding urban net, and the vibrant contrast that has resulted from this juxtaposition. Inside the venue, the conservation has been done through modern and cutting-edge restoration techniques in order to preserve the original appearance of ancient and contemporary works. The compositional language I used creates an inside - outside link which aesthetically does not exist. Restoration, conservation and culture offered to the city, to Italy and to the world.
